White Russians with Baileys
Irish Cream White Russians are perfect for holidays – or anytime you’d like a drink that is sweet and comforting. This co*cktail is cold, creamy, and delicious – and tastes just like a milkshake, just not as thick! We’re taking the classic White Russian flavor and adding Irish Cream to it – for a Bailey’s kick that is dessert-worthy! These Irish White Russians are pretty and easy to mix up, so they are great for a party, or a cozy night in.
Even though this drink is on ice, the creaminess is rich enough to make this drink perfect in warm or cold weather – we love it at Christmas, or to celebrate Saint Patricks Day, or even at night in summer outside by the firepit!

Outside of being one of the main characters of one of my favorite cult movies – White Russian co*cktails are insanely delicious, creamy, almost dessert like drinks. They are milky – but not thick – and taste almost like a cookies and creme milkshake. White Russians are perfect to sip for dessert or at a party!
Much like Moscow Mules, White Russians didn’t originate anywhere near Russia – they are from a co*cktail bar in Los Angeles! Since they include vodka, they took on their Russian moniker – and have taken over ever since!
How To Make White Russians
We love this co*cktail for how easy it is – you don’t need any specialty equipment outside of a spoon, and the liquors.
- 1½ ounce Irish cream
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1 ounce kahlua
- 1 ounce heavy cream
- Maraschino cherry, for garnish

Recipe FAQ’s
Can I pre-mix Irish White Russians?
I pre-mix vodka and Kahlua for White Russians – but I wouldn’t add the Baileys or cream/half and half until you’re ready to drink.
Can I Use Milk in a White Russian?
If you don’t have cream you can use milk or half and half – but not low-fat milk or milk substitute – or the drink will curdle.
Will a White Russian Curdle?
Is there a dairy free alternative?
If you need a reliable non-dairy alternative to cream, use coconut milk at a 1:1 ratio. Bailey’s has a delicious almond milk version you can use, too!

Ingredients
- 1½ ounce Irish cream
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1 ounce kahlua
- 1 ounce heavy cream
- Maraschino cherry for garnish
Instructions
Add all ingredients to an old fashioned rocks glass over ice and stir.
Garnish with a maraschino cherry and enjoy.
Notes
I prefer the addition of cream in this because it makes it extra creamy, however, if you prefer, you can substitute the cream for more Irish Cream.
Irish Cream coffee creamer is also a delicious substitute if you want the drink to be sweeter.
